Equine Haler is a reusable inhalation “spacer.” The one-way valve al- lows the medication to be passed only when the horse inhales. It can be easily cleaned for continued use. The inhalation device has been developed specifically for accurate administration of pharmaceuticals to horses with inflammatory respira- tory diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (i.e., re- current airway obstruction, or RAO). The Equine Haler provides a con- venient method of administering all available types of metered dose inhalers (MDI)(sold separately) to horses. The MDI delivers the medicine at a suitable particle size, (<5 microns) for direct distribution to the small airways. Developed in Denmark and tested at the Centre for Equine Studies, An- imal Health Trust, Newmarket, UK. One treatment takes 1-2 minutes.
